The machining is fairly easy and can be done on a 6 inch lathe and a drill press.

There is a small amount of brazing that is required also. This is on the hot end cylinder which is made up of three pieces and the upper leg braces. These pieces can be ordered pre-brazed and the legs pre-bent at the time of the kit purchase for an additional $12.00.

The kit comes complete with everything to build the fan including ball bearings for the crankshaft, and all of the necessary nuts and bolts. The easy to follow instruction manual contains many pictures of the machining and set up processes, and a detailed set of plans. Included with the plans is a full sized stick-on pattern of the five bladed fan hub, which will save much layout time. The only things not included are the fan shroud and a suitable burner. A small, 4 ounce alcohol lamp is enough to run the fan for approximately 8 hours.

Completed Luffin Luffin is a low temperature differential Stirling motor. It will spin its plastic flywheel at about 100 rpm from just the heat given off your monitor or other similar source.

The kit comes complete with everything needed to build this amazing motor; including bearings, all of the small brass screws and a completely machined (matched set) graphite piston and Pyrex cylinder.

While this kit is similar in machining techniques to Myranda, it is recommended for the intermediate and expert machinist, because of the closer tolerances and low drag that must be maintained.

Due to a dramatic wholesale increase, the matched Piston/Cylinder set can still be ordered separately, but the price has increased to $16.25 per set (plus $3.00 shipping for up to 3 sets.)
